Teak Oil is premium quality, fast-drying wood oil designed for the marine environment, with a light Teak pigment to give added UV protection and will not crack or peel. This product is not a varnish (which sits on the surface) but is designed to penetrate into your timber giving a tough, durable finish whilst creating a warm natural lustre.

Uses: Exterior/Marine, suitable for teak decks, trims, coamings and interioir joinery where a hard-wearing, easily maintained finish is required.

Teak Oil - Marine

Recommended Use: Suitable for teak decks, trims, coamings and interior joinery where a hard-wearing, easily maintained finish is required.

Coverage: Previously oiled wood, 12-16 m2 per litre. Dressed smooth wood, 6-12 m2 per litre. Rough sawn or porous wood, 2-8 m2 per litre.

Preparation: Ensure wood is clean, dry and mould free with moisture content below 18%. Treat any mould or moss with appropriate product. Weathered or grey wood should be chemically treated and/or sanded to remove dead fibres, exposing fresh timber before oiling. Sand to the desired finish removing all old varnish.

Caution: Oily rags may self-ignite. Do not throw into rubbish bin. Soak rags in water and hang out to dry.

Application:

  • Shake Thoroughly Before Use
  • Use with adequate ventilation, read all instructions thoroughly.
  • Do not apply in damp, humid conditions or when surface and air temperature is below 10oC during application or drying.
  • On previously coated surfaces, apply Teak Oil to a test panel to ensure compatibility and thorough drying.

Failure to remove all excess oil a few minutes after application could result in a patchy, dull, glossy or skinned surface.

1ST COAT: Is a flood coat. Apply Teak Oil generously. After a few minutes soak-in time, before the oil becomes tacky, wipe surface with a clean, dry, lint free cloth to remove ALL excess oil. Allow to dry for 16hrs at 20oC.

2ND COAT: For fine finishes or if the timber fibres are standing up and the surface feels rough - lightly sand with a fine grit paper or fine synthetic pad. Dust off surface thoroughly. Apply Supreme Teak Oil more sparingly than the first coat, leave for a few minutes then buff off ALL excess oil using a soft dry cloth. Allow to dry for 16hrs at 20oC.

Further coats may be required depending on timber type and porosity and gloss level desired.

Maintenance: After initial full application, apply a maintenance coat every 6 - 18 months, depending on exposure to the elements. This will keep the wood fed, ensuring a new "wet" look and preventing the wood greying off. When the surface starts to look dull and flat it's time for a quick wipe over with Supreme Teak Oil.

Clean Up: Turpentine, general purpose thinners.
